Retained

Recruitment

Retained recruitment is a type of professional recruitment in which an organisation pays a fee to a recruitment firm in order to secure their exclusive services.

The main advantage of retained recruitment is that it gives organisations access to a wider pool of candidates. Recruitment firms have extensive networks and can reach a large number of potential candidates that an organisation may not be able to reach on its own.

Another advantage is that recruitment firms have a team of professional recruiters who are experienced in sourcing and screening candidates. This can save the organisation time and resources that would otherwise be needed to conduct the recruitment process on their own.

The disadvantage of retained recruitment is that it can be expensive. Organisations may need to pay a large upfront fee to the recruitment firm, as well as a success fee if a candidate is successfully placed.

Overall, retained recruitment can be a good option for organisations that are looking to fill a high-level or specialised role. The expertise of the recruitment firm can help to ensure that the best possible candidates are identified and hired.

Press Recruitment

Before the era of websites, adverts were always placed in the printed press.

Organisations decide whether to place the advertisement in one or more publications in technical, local, regional or national press, according to their judgement on how best to reach the sort of candidates they require.

This is the most traditional method of recruitment. It involves placing an advert, explaining something about the company and details of the specific post which is to be filled. It asks for applications from interested candidates who provide details of their experience in a curriculum vitae (CV) Advertising through the press is still very popular because there are no agency fees to be paid.

It can produce a large number of applications, which is to some degree an advantage. There is another advantage of this type of recruitment, it acts as a promotional advertisement to your Clients, promoting a message that you are growing and successful.

The vast majority of organisations have a website and it has become standard practice to advertise vacancies on the internet as well as via traditional methods. This can work particularly well for large organisations because they will constantly have people applying to them for job opportunities.

Whereas for a smaller company they are less likely to attract the right applicants at the right time only using their own website, simply due to the lower “traffic rates”.  That is why Cater-Shaw Recruitment offers the printed press route for a recruitment drive as we understand that smaller companies shouldn’t be closed to any recruitment method just because of their financial situation.
